Installing Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 in a 2010 Ford F-150
Question:
I had a Tekonsha Voyager installed in a 2004 Ford F150 in 2006. The only numbers I have on the unit is 05-05 and no paperwork, the dealer may have kept it. My question is will the wiring diagram on the # 5100 which came up when I googled the unit be the same as mine and can I install it in my 2010 F 150? Thank you for any information.

Trailer brake controllers like your Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 are not vehicle-specific and so can be installed in any vehicle. The four wires for a controller - black, blue, white and red - are standardized for specific functions: BLACK is 12V power input to the controller (via a circuit breaker); BLUE is the controller's output signal which gets routed to the 7-way; WHITE is a ground that connects either to the vehicle frame or to the battery negative terminal; RED is the input trigger signal to the controller that wires to the cold side of the brake light switch (the side of the switch that carries voltage only when the pedal is pressed).
Since your 2010 Ford F-150 is equipped with a quick-connect brake controller port under the dash you can avoid the splicing of wires for installing your Voyager. You can use adapter part # 22292 to connect the controller to the vehicle with plug-in connectors. The linked video for a 2009 F-150 will illustrate.
