Distance Between Arms Of Thule Gateway 3 and Thule OutWay 3 Bike Carriers

Question:

Hi, can you tell me what is the distance between the arms of the Thule OutWay 3? Also, how is this measured, between the inner surfaces of the arms? I currently have a Thule Gateway 3, and I have incredible difficulty fitting my child's bike on it.Thank you,

I went to our warehouse and measured the arm distance of both the Thule OutWay 3, part # TH56BV and the Thule Gateway 3, part # TH78VR. I measured from the outside edges of the rubber cradles that the bikes sit on.

The distance between the outside edges of the cradles on the OutWay 3, part # TH56BV is 10-1/2 inches. The distance I measured on the Gateway 3, part # TH9007XT is 11-3/4 inches. You may wish to measure the distance on the carrier you have to make sure the difference of 1-1/4 inches is enough to merit a new carrier.

Another option you may wish to consider is a adapter bar for the bike, like part # TH982XT. This adapter attaches between the handlebar stem and the seat post to provide a more level way to carry bikes with alternative frames like women's bikes and kids bikes. This bar will telescope from 16 to 31-1/2 inches, and also provides more ground clearance.

I have attached a video that shows how the adapter bar is used on a carrier
