Can 225/75-15 Tire Size Fit on 5 inch Wide Wheel

Question:

I have a 2023 6x12 TA Towyo brand enclosed cargo trailer with two 3500 axles. The trailer came with the following: -Goodride ST200 ST205/75/16 tires with a C range load rating. 80 mph speed rating. -15x5 black steel wheels made in Korea with a max 2150 rating When at cement and power plants, I demonstrate and fire heavy industrial air cannons out of this trailer that produce quite a blast/shock throughout the trailer. I have not weighed the whole setup but I suspect that the entire setup including the dry weight of the trailer is probably approaching 5,000 . So this means that the tires are under a good amount of stress and weight when being towed 500-1000 miles a month or more. On my last trip I noticed that my stock tires are approaching the wear indicators all the way around. My question is, on a 5 inch wheel, can I go from a 205/75/15 C range tire, to a 225/75/15 E range tire? Would E range be too much? Im wanting a better ride, more of a contact patch, and longer lasting tires. Is this the right direction and would the tires above be what I need? Thanks

Hey David, so the 5 inch rim width you have now is compatible with the tire size 225/75-15 so if you wanted to upgrade to that size you definitely could. For a Load Range E in this size the part # TR225LRE would work great. This has the higher speed rating and will also last longer, provide a better ride quality, and also a bigger foot print on the road as well.
