Availability of a Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2009 BMW M3
Question:
I would like to purchase a tow hitch for my E92 BMW M3. I understand that it is possible to install one for the 335i but I would like to know what modifications would need to be done to have it installed on a M3. Thanks!

The trailer hitch for the BMW 3-Series that you referenced, part # SH88VR, is a fit for several versions and model years of the 3-Series Sports Wagon but it is not a fit for the M3.
For your 2009 BMW M3, we have the Stealth # SH97VR or the # SH73VR if your M# is a Sedan.
Hitches either fit a particular vehicle or they don't, and it is not advisable to attempt to modify a trailer hitch to fit a vehicle for which it was not designed. This would introduce all sorts of unknowns into the equation and could lead to potential safety issues.
If you wish you can advise the nature of the roof on your M3 and what you'd like to transport so that I might find an alternative for you.
