Can The Yakima TimberLine FX Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails Support a Rooftop Tent?
Question:
What is the weight bearing capacity of this rack? Can it support a rooftop tent?

The Yakima TimberLine FX Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails # Y48UV has a maximum capacity of 165lbs. Do understand you will want to check your owners manual or with your dealership to verify the maximum capacity your roof is capable of carrying. As most roofs are not going to be rated for the amount of weight required for a tent you might check out the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer with SkyRise HD Tent # Y08129-3627 which can easily be towed by most vehicles.

Hi Bud, The owners manuals gives two specifications for weight bearing capacity of the roof, dynamic and static. The dynamic capacity is 176 lbs. This is the weight limit while the vehicle is motion. The static weight is 650 lbs. This is the weight while the vehicle is parked. As for roof top tents, they generally weigh less than 150 lbs and I definitely wouldn’t be driving while it’s deployed lol. What is the static weight that the bars can handle?
