Comparing the Curt A20 and B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitches Jaw Systems

Question:

Hello! Comparing the Curt and the BandW. The BandW has two claw’s versus 1 for the Curt but the Curt wraps all the way around. The BandW looks like they come together but not overlap. With that being said, sitting aside the difference in price. What is the better and more supportive of the two please? Thank you!

Hey Heath, thanks for reaching out!

The Curt A20 # C55DR and the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670 you're looking at are both excellent 5th wheel hitches, but I have to go with the Companion in this case simple because it is more robust and has a better build quality. It's true that the Companion uses dual jaws, but those guys are 1" thick jaws so they will still hold the king pin nice and securely. The Curt has the interlocking jaws (which I really like) but it just doesn't have the same quality.

Please note that I consider the B&W hitches to be the absolute best on the market while the Curt is a solid choice but sits at the "average" range if that makes sense.

With that being said, the A20 is for base rails and the Companion is for a Ram OEM puck system. If you have the base rails then you'll want to compare the A20 to the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 instead. The Patriot essentially has the same head and cushion features as the Companion (although the heads aren't interchangeable), it just has the base rail mounting system instead of the puck mounting system.
