Question:

Hello, I have a 2015 Lexus RX450H with a bare roof. I have Thule Fit Kit 1298, Thule 480R Foot Pack, and 53” Thule Evo Wingbars. I believe I have assembled everything correctly. I have measured exactly as Thule describes for my vehicle. The problem I’m encountering is that when I turn the included Acutight tool to the point that the green interior line of the tool is in alignment with the cut-outs in the grey outer shell of the tool, I can no longer push the Acutight tool in far enough to be able to close the 480R cover door. What seems to be happening is that the black horizontal edge piece, located below the bolt, rises as I turn the bolt, to the point that it blocks the space by about 2mm where I should be able to push the Acutight tool in fully. That means the foot cover won’t close. In fact, this problem occurs well-before the Acutight is signaling I’ve tightened enough. What could I be doing wrong? This is happening on both sides of the front assembly. I have not attempted the rear feet yet. I seem to be the only person on the entire internet with this problem. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have.

Hey Elle, it sounds like you definitely have an interesting situation happening. Can you go ahead and send a picture of what you've got going on so I can take a look at it? If you can, send it to bryce.davis@etrailer.com.
