Tekonsha Primus IQ Is Initiating Brakes With No Trailer Connected And Turning Off Cruise Control
Question:
I’ve used this Primus brake controller for the last 7 years without issue. Over the course of the winter, with no trailering, the brake controller kept initiating the brakes and kicking off my cruise control. Unplugged the brake controller and the cruise worked fine. Has to be something with the brake controller but I’m not sure what. Thanks for the help

Hello Dan. It definitely sounds like something is wrong internally with your controller. It is difficult to say exactly what is wrong. Could be a shorted wire perhaps. Anytime a controller works normally for a period of time, then abruptly stops working right, it almost always means an issue with the controller. At this point I have to suggest that you replace your Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 with a new one. This controller does cone with a lifetime warranty which you should definitely be able to take advantage of.
