Would a Prodigy RF Prodigy Brake Controller Work on a 2014 Harley Triglide
Question:
Will this system work with a 2014 Harley Davidson Triglide? Harley is now using a canbus system and to get the trailer lights to work I have to buy a special wiring harness from open road outfitters that has some small relays that detect the signals and then use power from the battery thru the relays to the trailer lights. They say if you dont do this it will mess up the canbus system. So I understand that the hand held unit just needs 12v and I am guessing that the blue brake wire in the wire harness will go to a fuse then to the battery to provide power to the brakes. So will this controller know the difference between the turn signal power and the brake power since they use the same wire? I dont want to purchase it then find out it wont work or even worse screw up the HD can bus system.

If you had a fully functional 7-way on your 2014 Harley Triglide then yes, the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller part # TK94FR that you referenced would work well for you. But you will need to install whatever the recommended wiring harness is first otherwise I could not safely recommend you attempt the install as I would hate to see you damage the electronics of your Harley.
The handheld of the # TK94FR is only used for programming the brake controller. Once you have it paired and the gain set the remote does not necessarily need to be powered. The controller can tell when the brakes are applied as opposed to when one of the blinkers is applied. The unit uses the 12 volt power accessory pin of the 7-way to power the brakes.
