Should Trailer With 4-Bolt Wheels Change to 5-Bolt or Change the Tires

Question:

I’ve got a 1978 Fleetwood Prowler with the 4 bolt pattern wheels. I’d like to redeck and use the trailer to haul. Would I be better off replacing the current tires on the wheels with different tires or buy 4 bolt to 5 adapter and finding a set of different wheels so I could have a wider selection of rubber to choose from?

Hi Nick,

I'm not aware of a 4-bolt to 5-bolt adapter, and honestly, I'd just go ahead and change the tires instead of trying to reconfigure something. You'll just need to know the wheel diameter, width, and capacity you need for the right tire.

For example if your wheel is 15" x 5", 15" x 5-1/2", 15" x 6", or 15" x 6-1/2" and you needed a tire with a capacity of at least 1,700 lbs you could go with the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10244.

I have added a link below to our entire selection of trailer tires for you which you can filter through by size.
