Troubleshooting 2010 Keystone Laredo 245RL Landing Gear Blowing Fuses
Question:
Hello, I have a 2010 keystone Laredo 245RL 5th wheel and just recently while trying to leave the camp ground the landing gear motor would throw 30 amp fuses while trying to raise the camper. The motor would run fine then slow down and blow fuse. I know the landing gear needs lubrication as the person I bought the trailer from recently told me he never greased it. Would that cause the motor to do this ? Or do you think the motor is going bad? Let me add, motor runs fine going up and down with no load using 30 amp fuses, but after blowing 3- 30 amp fuses I put in a 40 amp fuse and it didnt blow. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

The first thing I would check is the power. Use a multimeter # PT89ZR to make sure you have 12V at the motor. This is a common cause for blown fuses. After that, I would try the lubrication since you're already aware of the need for it. If there is extra resistance and the landing gear is hard to move it could be the cause of the circuit getting overdrawn and blowing the fuse. If you still have a problem after I would be looking at replacing the motor.
