Not sure which FanTastic Roof Vent you have but the item # FV807350 you were looking at can be opened in two different ways without turning on the fan. The up and down button on the remote can be used or you can manually open it with the crank handle.

The ceiling fan operates in 2 modes: manual and automatic. An on/off button automatically lifts the dome and activates the fan. To use the manual mode, press the arrow buttons on the left side of the remote or turn the knob on the vent housing to increase or decrease the fan speed.

If this isn't the roof vent you own then feel free to email me directly or comment below what model you do have and I would be happy to look it up. A part number is going to be the best way to get you the information you're needing.

Hi Jerred, Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I do not know the model number and my instruction booklet doesn't say which I have. I took a photo of the remote control and the page from the book about how to operate the fan, but cannot figure out a way to paste it into this message. The fan was installed in 2021. Pushing the buttons on the left side of the remote will slow the fan, but not stop it altogether. My RV came originally with a manually operated vent/fan. The reason that I had the Fan-Tastic fan installed is that I am short and cannot reach the fan without a ladder, so operating it by turning the knob on the vent housing defeats the purpose of having this remotely-controlled unit. I seldom use it because it is noisy when the fan is running, uses battery power, and I cannot stop the fan. Kay

Never mind! The lid is open and the fan is off. Not sure if I can do it again, but it is okay for now. @Kay
