Do Weight Distribution Systems Regain the Lost Capacity of Using a Hitch Extender

Question:

I am looking to extend the hitch on my 2012 Chevy Silverado. I have an EZ hitch leveling/anti sway system that I am using now. I am towing a 26 ft travel trailer with a tongue weight of 512#s. I know using an extender reduces my tongue weight capacity by 50 but didnt know if the EX hitch would increase the limit back to where I need it to be.

When using a hitch extender there isn't a way to regain the lost tongue weight capacity regardless of what is used. Not even with a weight distribution system. However, there should be a higher tongue weight capacity for your vehicle when using a weight distribution system. You might check to make sure you are dividing the capacity in half and not just the non-weight distribution capacity.

We do not carry any EAZ weight distribution systems, but you might look into finding a longer shank for your weight distribution system.

I attached an FAQ on weight distribution for you to check out also.
