Can SeaSucker Roof Rack Bars For Mazda Miata Hardtop be Close Together
Question:
I want to put a windsurf board on a Mazda Miata hardtop. The board is 250cm long 65cm wide. The hardtop is rather short, which means the two bars of your system would be close together. I was wondering if that creates a stability issue. I saw a vid of a Miata where one part of your product was on the roof, the other on the trunk, but this was used to hold skies. With the surfboard I think the angle would create a lot of uplift.

Hi Gerhard,
You can put the crossbars close together on your Mazda Miata when using the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6000B.
That said, the correct distance apart is going to depend on the carrier. We don't offer a windsurf board carrier for the width you need, but carriers will have a specific distance apart required for their use. So the crossbars can be close or far, but the carrier determines the right distance, and if the board is angled upwards, yes that will create a lot of uplift.

Thanks for your response Kyle. The product you mentioned has 48in long bars, that's more than sufficient for my board as it is only 65 centimeter wide. What do you mean by "carrier"? I used to have a Thule roof rack on another car (where the roof allowed it), just the bars and strapped down the board on it, maybe with some foam cushion.
