What is Needed to Activate 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 7-Way
Question:
Hello, I have a question, I bought another pigtail harness not this one about a year ago, maybe more, from e trailer. it plugged into the 4 flat wire connector harness my truck wasn’t equipped with a 7 pin from the factory and pigtailed back into and allowed for a 7 way plug to be installed. I disconnected the 4 flat, installed the pigtail into the 4 flat and the 7 way harness, and I have power to all of my lights on the 7 way but no power to the auxiliary pin on the 7 way. I do need power to the 7 way auxiliary pin to power my curt bluetooth brake controller that I purchased recently for e trailer. What is it that I need to look at to get power to the aux pin on my 7 way at the back of the truck. Do I need to install a power wire with a 30 amp fuse and a switch on the dash to run from the battery to my auxiliary power at the back of the truck? Also on another note I do not have power to the ford brake controller in my truck that I bought and added to my truck, what other items do I have to look at for this? I did have the dealer go through and activate the brake controller but still no power to it, they mentioned the fact that I should end up going with an aftermarket controller for this truck because it didnt come with a two package. This has led me to buy the curt Bluetooth controller from you guys. These two issues have made it very difficult to be able to use my truck and troubleshoot the issues for its intended purpose and the dealer has not been able to offer me any help with them. Any help with these issues from your knowledgeable staff would indeed be greatly appreciated. You have answered a few questions for me so far and have been a great help to me. Thank you to the etrailer staff for your help Richard

Hey Richard, to activate the 12 volt accessory circuit of your 7-way you'll need to run 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 from the 1:00 pin of the 7-way to the positive post of the battery through a breaker like part # 9510.
To activate the Ford controller you'd only be able to get the wiring needed from a Ford dealer.
