Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch With a 14" Height Adjustment

Question:

I presently have the round tube slider with my 16K hitch head. It is in the lowest possible setting and still sits too high at about 16inch above the rail. I need to lower it by about 2inch to 14. Will the RP30048 slider assembly allow for the hitch height to be lowered more than the current round tube slider?

Unfortunately not, Chuck. It looks like the Reese Square Tube Slider for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30048 will only adjust down to 15" so it's going to be a tick out of reach.

It looks like to get what you're after you're going to need to swap your hitch out with something like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR which has an adjustment range of 14" to 17" so you'd be right where you need to be height wise.

The only issue I have with the Curt E16 Hitch is that it is a slide-bar jaw. Which I hear can be a little noisy. What about the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs Item # RP30051? It states "Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18". Would this be the same as the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs Item # C95DR installed? Thank you for your time. Chuck

@Chuck The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider # RP30051 could also work but I thought you needed 14" which is why I suggested # C95DR. If 15" can work for you, then yes # RP30051 would be fine.
