How to Fix "SH" Code on Electric Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
I got the controller out of my parts truck, wired it in how they had after confirming on the manual what wires where what. On the controller when I press on my pedal or slide it manually it is displaying S.H. This is without a trailer connected, im not sure if that will make it say there’s a short, I have no ability to change the gain either. The connections to my plug in on my truck are all good and sturdy. The vehicle is a 1997 ram 1500 sport with a 5.9 magnum

Hey Dominick, thanks for reaching out!
The Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 showing the "SH" code does refer to a short like you mentioned. The connections that you've made to your truck might be solid but you'll need to check the ground connection which is tied to that white wire - especially on an older vehicle like what you have.
Make sure that white wire is grounded to a clean bare-metal surface and that nothing is loose. You should be able to mess with some of the settings and test for output at your 7-Way by using the manual slide.
