First, you are going to need a trailer hitch if you do not already have one on your 2009 Honda CR-V. You can use the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24792. This is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver.

For a Class I compatible bike rack that holds 2 bikes and is easy to install and use I recommend the Kuat Beta, # B202-114. This bike rack is very easy to install since it only weighs 12.6 pounds! It is also made of aluminum so it is corrosion resistant. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.

The safest and easiest way to carry bikes is by using a hitch and hitch mount rack. It also keeps the bikes and rack off the vehicle and you will not have to mess with getting bikes on and off the roof.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # UB01. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all.
