Does The King Pin Need To Be Greased When Using A Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch

Do I need to add grease to the kingpin where it goes into the jaw or is the jaw secured to the kingpin where is helps turn the hitch?

Hey Perry,

The king pin can be greased but I recommend only using a white lithium grease # L11354 to avoid attracting dirt/debris that could gum up the jaws of your Demco Autoslide # DM8550024. This hitch has multiple points to grease so I recommend checking out the manual and following their instructions to properly grease the hitch to keep it gliding smoothly. Since this hitch prevents movement of the king pin in the jaws of the hitch greasing it would really only help protect the metal of the king pin from rusting so it's not really necessary. With a normal 5th wheel hitch adding a bit of grease to the king pin would be a more normal procedure.
