Hi Selina; You do not have to have a manual transmission on your 2012 Honda CR-V to flat tow. Make sure you follow the instructions in your owner's manual before doing so. Towing your CR-V will require a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, wiring, and a supplemental braking system. I recommend the following:

-Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521567-5

-Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-676

-Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267

-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251

OR

-Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # SM99243

You will need to choose the brake system based on the brakes in your RV. You will also need the Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400 along with a fuse bypass. If your owner's manual says to only pull the #19 ACC radio fuse, use part # RM76511; if it states to pull the #19 ACC radio fuse and the #20 ACC key lock fuse, use part # RM76512.

The other thing you will likely need is a high-low adapter. I have attached an article below which explains how to measure to choose the right one. I also attached some installation videos and a link to all of our available high-low adapters for your reference.
