Why is there a Hole on the Side of Curt Trailer Hitch 15410 for a 2001 Ford F-250

Question:

Hello, just curious what the thought is behind the hole on what appears to be the main beam of the hitch. I live in MN so that kinda scares me for letting salt and moisture into my hitch. For 2001 f-250 bed on frame

I spoke with my contact at Curt about trailer hitch # C15410. The holes, one on each side near the bottoms of the brackets, are drain holes. The hitch is not painted or powder-coated. It goes through a dip process and the holes let the excess coating drain out. So the hitch actually looks the same on the inside as it does on the outside.

My contact also wanted me to know that the hitch is made in Wisconsin so they build the hitches with the tough winters in mind.

To complete your towing set up I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK2416. It comes with a ball mount, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. And if your truck does not have a trailer connector you can use # 18252 to add a 4-Way.
