Even Brake Supplemental Braking System Not Functioning on a 2012 Chevy Equinox

Question:

we just have installed or even break system and are on our first trip with new toad. When hooking up it cycles only two times the even break and then a red light goes on.It always cycled 3 times on our trailblazer but on our 2012 Equinox it only cycles twice. Go inside the coach and the monitor says it is doing a self test then says no break light detected then next check break light or fuse. This is hard to do on the road so we are for the first time going with out our Even Break and heading to West Virginia on 177 mountains. Any help would be great.

First, if you are not using the stop light switch kit # RM-751439 it is required for proper functioning of the Even Brake, # RM-9400, on the 2012 Equinox. It sounds as if the switch, if it is being used, is either not hooked up properly or the wiring between it and the monitor in the motor home is not connected. When it does its test and presses the brake pedal, it is not sensing the brake switch kit.

The fuse issue is a common complaint but there is a solution. Just install a fuse bypass, # RM76511, which makes removing power to the fuse as easy as flipping a switch. It does sound like an issue with either the fuse causing problems with initial installation and set up, or the brake light switch kit is not communicating with the monitor.
