5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Needed to Tow 38 Foot Landmark Grand Canyon w/ 2012 Ford F250

Question:

My trailer is a 38foot Landmark Grand Canyon. It is equiped with a TrailAir king pin. I am looking at a F-250 that already has a gooseneck hitch in the bed. Will your gooseneck adapter work with the TrailAir hitch?

The best option is to use the correct hitch for the correct trailer and avoid using an adapter. The 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters, for the most part can be hard on the frame of a 5th wheel. Certain frame manufacturers will void the frame warranty if an adapter is used, but Lippert who is probably the largest frame manufacturer out there says that the Reese Goosebox is an approved method of towing a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch without causing undue stress on the frame.

None of the 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters we offer are compatible with an air ride pinbox like your Trailair, as the cushioning provided by the pin box can damage the various adapters. However, I do have some possible solutions.

The Reese Goosebox # RP85FR is a direct replacement for a Lippert 1621, 0719, 1621HD or Fabex PB-600. The # RP94716-61301 is compatible with the Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716. If the original pin box was one of these models, the Goosebox would be a good alternative.

If you don't know what the model number of your original pin box was, I can find it if you provide the model number of the Trailair pin box you have. If you don't know the model number, I have linked you to a help article that will show how to measure how far apart the bolt holes are. With that information, I can determine which pin box model you have.

If the existing gooseneck hitch is a B and W turnover ball, you can use a B and W Companion, you can use the # BWRVK3400-5W if you have the 6-3/4 inch bed or # BWRVK3500-5W for an 8 foot bed.
