How to Determine Trailer Bearings For 10 Inch Hub & Drum

Question:

How do I know what bearings I have in my trailer wheels? 6 lug, 10 x 2 1/4 drums dual axle car hauler. And would both the non brake axle and brake axle have the same bearings?

in order to find the correct bearings for your hub, you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper and measure your spindle where the bearings ride, like in the photo I added.

It would also help to know your axle capacity (which should be stamped on the axle itself); and for a 10 inch hub and drum that is generally a 3,500 lb axle (the braked and non-braked axle should be the same, yes).

So for example, if you do have a 3,500 lb axle your bearings are L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) and L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) you would use the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # BK2-100.

I have added a link below to our entire selection of bearing kits and bearings for you once you find this info.

@Paul Thanks for that info, and for a 3,500 lb axle you would need Bearing Kit # BK2-100.
