What to Check with Chucking and Jarring While Towing with a B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

I bought a Companion b and w hitch from you 7 months ago. Just hooked up to trail to take a trip. Started down the trail and at 60 mph I started to get a rocking motion back and forth from side of side. What can it be?

Hey John!

The B&W Companion, like part # BWRVK3600 for the OEM puck system on your 2021 Ram 2500, is a really sturdy system that generally provides a comfortable towing solution both for the pickup truck and the RV.

With that being said, if you are experiencing a lot of chucking and jarring while towing down a paved road then you'll want to check and make sure the hitch has been properly put together and that it is properly secured to the rail system in your truck. I wasn't able to find an order from you using this email address so if you could let me know what hitch part number you have and/or the order number from us I can look into that on my end as well.

The other thing to keep in mind is you used the term "trail" in your question. If you meant more of an off-road situation then that would explain why you're getting more of a rough towing experience since the B&W Companion is designed for on-road towing.
