Will Current B&W Head Fit B&W RVK3000 Base

Question:

I currently have a bandw turnover ball brand new underbed hitch with a companion model 3000 serial number 12909 My head is getting fairly worn and wont stay level. Still works great and my older 2004 holiday rambler 5th wheel is perfectly level going down the road. The rv weighs about 16500 and I really dont want to change the base because of how smooth it pulls being so level Can a 18000 lb head fit that base. Truck is a 2012 f350 superduty dually. Are the newer 18000 lb heads the same height as my old head. What head can you reccomend with that base

The # BWRVC3200 you were looking at will not fit since it is designed for the Patriot. The Patriot and Companion are not interchangeable. However, you can add the Replacement Head Assembly for B&W Companion # BWRVC3006. It has an even higher rating but you will be limited by the capacity of the base. It will be the same height as what you have now.

Can you tell me if the higher rating companions are the same overall height as my model 3000. Would like to go a heavier rating but would like to not go higher. Thks.

@GaryC the height adjustments for your model 3000 are 14-¾”, 15-¾”, 16-¾” and for the new # BWRVK3500-5W the height adjustments are 16-¼”, 17-¼”, 18-¼”. It is the base that determines the height. If you completely replace it then it will sit higher. If you only replace the head and use your old base it will keep the same height.

@RobinH If I bought a 20000 model 3500 the lowest setting is only 1 1/2 higher than my model 3000. The newer model 3500 looks like it mounts into the gooseneck underbed hitch farther forward which is bettter. Right now I am centered directly over the rear axle. Can I turn the base 180 degrees and make the correct adjustments with the legs to get forward a couple inches with my current base

@GaryC the current model # BWRVK3500-5W does sit in a different position. It actually has two different mounting positions for the socket post which you can see if you look at the instructions linked below. Turning the old base 180 degrees is not something you can do.
