Internal TPMS Sensor Option for a 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 with Aluminum Wheels

Question:

Band TPMs. Have Leisure Travel Van 2019 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 dually with aluminum Alcoa wheels. I am concerned about galvanic corrosion between stainless steel band and aluminum wheel. Should I be and is there an alternative to the steel band. Thank you

Hey Robert, thanks for reaching out!

Since your Sprinter has aluminum wheels it wouldn't be a good idea to use a kit like the TST TPMS # TST34FR that uses the stainless steel bands as that would eventually cause galvanic corrosion.

For your situation I recommend using the Tuson Towable Tire Pressure Monitoring System # 335TPMS4WIVS instead because the sensor is connected to the valve stem as opposed to wrapping around the wheel itself. With this setup you just have to make sure the brass valve stem doesn't make contact with the wheel and you'll be good to go!
