Can SeaSucker Monkey Bars Be Installed on a 1984 Toyota Celica with Primer Paint and a Sunroof

Question:

I have a 1984 toyota celica gt coupe with a metal moonroof and primer all over the body. Will the suction cups still work with the primer? And is there enough space to have the seasucker on there? The use would be for a small cargo box on top.

I really like the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6000B as well since it's so universal, but that primer paint on your 1984 Toyota Celica does make me a little hesitant to recommend it as a valid solution. I tried reaching out to SeaSucker to get their take on a vehicle with only primer and I still haven't heard anything back yet. - UPDATE My contact got back with me and said that primer paint is perfectly fine to work with the Monkey Bars!

If you're interested in a clamp-style roof rack I recommend using the Yakima RoundBar system which uses the following parts:

- 48" RoundBars # Y00408
- 1A Raingutter Towers # Y00101

This is a solid choice that we know will stay secured to your roof and will last a long time as well.
