Parts Needed To Install A 7-Way On A 2017 Toyota Highlander With Factory Tow Package
Question:
2017 Toyota Highlander - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector The listing for this kit says its for 17 Toyota Highland w/o factory tow package. In searching, good old Google says all V6 powered came from the factory with a tow package. So my question is if I do have the factory tow package which wiring kit would you recommend? Then I need to convert a 7 round connector but I dont need a brake controller as comes with the Tekonsha kit. Thanks

Hi Charles,
If you have the factory tow package in your 2017 Toyota Highlander then you'll just need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 56042. This plugs right into the factory wiring hidden behind the trim in the back of the vehicle. I've attached a video below where Dave will walk you through the installation process.
From there you would need to install the # ETBC7, which will need to be wired in the following manner:
Black - 12v power source with included inline circuit breaker
White - ground to frame
Yellow - can be capped off or connected to reverse light circuit if needed
Blue - brake output from your brake controller with included inline circuit breaker
4-Pole Connector - connect to # 56042
I recommend picking up a no-drill mounting bracket # 18136 as well so that you can easily mount the 7-way to your hitch without having to drill any holes. I've attached a video for the # ETBC7 as well so Conner can walk you through the installation.
