Does Power Wire of Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Kit # TK53VR Have to be Ran to Battery
Question:
Can I use the 12 volt flex bed connector to provide power instead of running a wire all the way to the battery?

Hey Tim, so we get this question a lot and we totally understand the temptation to run the power wire to an easier location than the battery but you do really have to run the line up to the battery. The reason for that is this is a form of circuit protection in the event of a short as it wouldn't damage any of the vehicles circuits. So to bypass this would put the wiring at risk.

For the Maverick hybrid XL, Ford's instructions for their wire harness tell you to connect to the 12V AC outlet with the inline fuse. Why is the Tekonsha harness different?
