Does the B&W Companion Shank Need to Bottom Out in the B&W Gooseneck Receiver

Question:

2015 F350 Dually BandW Turn over kit installed with BandW companion 20K Should the companion post be bottomed out in the turn over socket? Or does all the weight of the trailer sit on the rails and on the bed? Seems like the post should bottom out in the socket to take weight of trailer off the sheet metal bed and put the weight back on the frame.

That post/shank won't need to be bottomed out for the installation.

The B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1111 and Companion # BWRVK3500 will have the pin weight secure both by that shank as well as by your truck bed. During the installation process you'll have to move the black rails on the Companion to best match with your truck bed and you'll also be torqueing down the bolt that will pull the "shank" tight against the pin used to secure the hitch in the gooseneck receiver - which in turn helps transfer that weight to the gooseneck hitch assembly.
