Determining Axle Spacing For An 8-Lug Tandem Torsion Axle Setup  

Question:

What is the standard spacing between the axle mounting points for an 8 lug torsion axle on a tandem setup? front to rear axle spacing. I know a lot can depend on tire size, this will have 17.5 wheels on it with lo-pro tires.

Hi Chad,

When installing a tandem axle setup you'll want to have at least 4" of space between the tires to allow for suspension travel without having the tires touch. For example, with a 215/75R17.5 tire size, like part # LH28FR, you would need to space the axles at least 34.2" apart.
