I was wondering if I should buy the biggest Gen-Y hitch for my 2022 Grand Design 373-FBR? Is it overkill?

You need to calculate your tongue weight to choose the correct Gen-Y for your 2022 Grand Design Solitude 373FB-R. Gen-Y uses the calculation GVWR x 0.22 = TW. Since you have a GVWR of 16,800 lbs your tongue weight is 3,696 lbs so the correct choice would be the 5,500 lb tongue weight model.
From what Grand Design has on their parts site it looks like you have a 1621 HD so you would need the # GY46FR. This fits the 1621 and 1621 HD bolt pattern and has the 5.5k TW rating required for your 5th wheel. If you're looking for the 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box it is the # GY94TR.
