Parts Needed For Tekonsha Prodigy P2/P3 Trailer Brake Controller on 2001 Ram 1500 No Tow Package
Question:
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Larmie 5.9L no factory tow package. Need trailer brake controller for Big Tex CH6000. Thinking Tech P2-3 and any plug pigtail and wiring kit. I installed your hitch and Hopkins 7pin but time for more comfortable hauling. Thanks for the help Happy customer...Tom

I do see where you got the Receiver # 75101 from us but I do not see exactly what Hopkins 7-way you got for your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm going to assume you got the 7-Way # 37185 as it is one of the most commonly used. To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 or P3 # 90195(which would be my preference) you would also need the Wiring Kit # 5506 which contains wiring for both the charge line and brake controller along with circuit breakers to protect from shorts or surges. If you have a kit like our # ETBC7 you were looking at you would only need to select one of the controllers as these both come with the universal pig tails you need to hard wire them in.
I have linked a video showing the P2 # 90885 installed on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 near the bottom of the page that will likely answer many of the question about the installation you may have. I do personally prefer the P3 # 90195 as the LCD screen is great when you have issues with the controller as it can tell you what to check rather than trying to find the manual to determine what the error code means on the P2.
