Recommended 3 to 2 wire Converter for Adding in a LED Third High Brake Light

Question:

My RV has 2 wire combined brake and turn signal LED lights and I want to add a center high mounted brake light, also LED. I understand this Curt 2 wire to 3 wire converter is not compatible with LEDs. Can you recommend a product that might work? Thank you.

Hey Pete, so to add a third brake light that uses two wires to your 3 wire system you're going to need to use # 118158 to splice into your combined right/stop and left/stop wiring, then connect your 3rd LED brake light to the stop output on the converter.

If there ends up being some hyper flashing you'll need to add in the Load Resistor Kit for LED Turn Signals # DI34ZR between the converter and the light, which will create a stronger draw like incandescent lights.

Yes, but #118158 product information specifically states that is not compatible with LED lights…

@PeteA Okay yeah, so in that case you'd want the Hopkins Tail Light Converter # HM48847 instead which is compatible with LED lights.

@BryceD I’m thinking this is what I want…. Pacer Performance 20-702 - Pacer Performance LED Modules PPP-20-702 Modules

@PeteA Yeah Pete, that looks like it'll work great.
