Weight Distribution For 6,000 lb Trailer With Short A-Frame
Question:
Im looking for an aluminum trailer to tow my Shelby with my F150. Given its a 1500 truck pulling a combined weight of a bit under 6000 pounds, I am in search of a weight distribution hitch. The problem is most trailers I see have closed A-frames that have this metal plate covering where one would usually attach the bars to the frame. Any suggestions or hitches that would work?

So what you'll have to do is use the Chain Hangers # C17005 and bolt them onto your trailer frame. I will also say it's very important you contact the trailer manufacturer to see if the trailer is rated for use with weight distribution because not all aluminum trailers are.
Then for a 6,000 lb trailer you would use the Curt MV Weight Distribution # C17051 and instead of using the brackets it comes with you'll use the chain hangers.
The only other thing you'll need is the hitch ball, either 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030 depending on the trailer coupler size.
