Replacement Brake Wire for Axle to Fix Tekonsha P2 Intermittent Errors
Question:
Hi. Im getting intermittent error codes on my Tekonsha P2 brake controller. Ive seen some videos online where owners are replacing the brake wiring in their axle due to wear which is causing the error codes. What type of wiring would you recommend as a replacement inside the axles that isnt going to wear down due to rubbing? Probably something with a protective sheath over it?

If you haven't already I would double check the wires running from your P2 # 90885 just to make sure everything is secure and functioning properly. You could also check the connection at the rear of your vehicle. If all of that checks out then the brake wiring in the axle could be related, or it could be damage elsewhere on that same wire.
The simplest solution would be to replace it all with # 10-1-1. There isn't a special wire made for this, just your standard trailer brake output wire. Rather than try to feed something back through the axle I would run it separately outside of the axle underneath the trailer and secure it with some wire clips like # A0250
