Recommended Weight Distribution System for 1999 F250 With Slide-In Camper

Question:

I have a 1999 f250 crew cab 4wd that I put a truck slide in camper which weighs approx 1300 lbs loaded on. I also tow a jeep on a trailer that loaded weighs approx 6200 lbs. The truck obviously sits low with just the camper loaded and lower with the trailer attached. I am looking into a wd hitch. Any recomendations. Thanks in advance.

When determining the weight rating of the weight distribution system needed, any load in the tow vehicle to the rear of the back axle needs to be figured in as tongue weight. We typically figure the tongue weight of a trailer as being 10 to 15 percent of the trailer weight.

With your set up, you are in the 700-1000 lb tongue weight range. I would recommend the High Performance Trunnion System, part # RP66022. This system is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 600-1200 lbs.

If trailer sway is a concern, this system is available with the Dual Cam Sway Control, part # RP66074. The Dual Cam System will stop trailer sway dead in its tracks before it can occur.
We also offer a Rear Suspension Enhancement System for your vehicle, part # TFR150SDE. This system would certainly help reduce or eliminate the sag you are experiencing, especially when a trailer is being towed in conjunction with a camper on the bed of the truck.
