Will The EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver Allow For Wheelchair Carrier on a 2016 Nissan Leaf?

Question:

I want to buy the 2016 leaf class 2 hitch. My trailer accepts class 4 w/ 2 opening. Will this be compatible? They both say 2 hitch. I plan on towing a wheelchair ~200lbs and a trailer ~75lbs

I just want to ensure I am understanding you correctly because you say trailer but I think you are referring to carrier like the Flint Hill Goods # FHG77ZR. If this is similar to what you are meaning then yes, you will be able to use it with the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7221 on your 2016 Nissan Leaf. I do recommend also installing the Wiring # C56227 when you install the receiver as you will most likely need to add some Auxiliary Lights # C53201 to the carrier. This will give you an additional set of lights that drivers will be able to see in the event your wheelchair interferes with the tail lights on your Leaf.

Do note while the receiver is rated for up to 300lbs of tongue weight you will need to also ensure you do not overload the weight capacity on your Leaf as often times you will not be able to carry to much additional weight inside your vehicle.

I did mean Carrier thanks. Is there a way to increase the weight capacity?

@AmosJ There unfortunately is not a way to increase the carrying capacity for your Nissan Leaf. You would need to find a larger vehicle which has a higher capacity to be able to carry a larger amount of weight.
