Comparing A JackRabbit And RetraxONE Tonneau Cover For A 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
I’m looking for a retractable hard cover for my 22 Chevy 2500 short bed diesel. Really can’t justify spending the extra money for an all aluminum cover. Plan buying air bags from you guys before hay season. Truck is always keep in garage. Been looking at the Retrax one or the jackrabbit with the standard rail system. One thing I have found out by looking at forums is that the Retrax one only latches on driver side and not drivers and passenger if this is true. Thought about a tri fold but don’t want to block my bed camera when hooking up or towing my gooseneck and hitch wheel trailers. Both products have good reviews according to your website. Not crazy about the tension spring on jackrabbit but like everything else. Any help or insite on these products would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Clint,
The RetraxONE MX # RTX66VR does have the latch on the driver's side that you'll need to flip up before being able to slide the cover. This feature does mean a bit more leg work than the Pace Edwards JackRabbit # PE26CV, but you'll be able to stop the cover at any point in the rails. The JackRabbit will only allow you to stop the cover in 12" intervals.
With you having a short bed a tri-fold cover would likely either block you coupling up to a trailer or have to be folded up and would block your rear window.
Between the two I personally prefer the RetraxONE MX # RTX66VR simply for the ability to lock the cover anywhere in the rails to make hauling varying sized loads easier. If you plan on adding in a ladder rack or some crossbars to haul other accessories then I recommend going with the # RTX37YR instead as it has t-slots in the rails for this purpose.
For the air springs I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2613. To be able to change the psi level in the springs while on the go I recommend picking up the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL74000EZ. This compressor comes with a remote and Bluetooth app to control/monitor the psi without having to mount a gauge on the dash.

Thanks for your response Kevin. On the Retrax one I was referring to the lock itself under the cover. What I read it locks only on the driver side and there is no rod and lock that goes under the cover to the passenger side. Only the Retrax pro locks on both side. Thanks again for your response
