Something is Rattling After Installing Curt Class III trailer Hitch on a 2005 to 2012 Ford Escape
Question:
I bought this hitch and installed it and when I hooked the trailer to it it clanked sounding like it was loose but it wasnt. What would cause that.

You could be hearing the ball mount rattling around in the hitch or it could be the exhaust making contact with the hitch. To stop movement of the ball mount you can use an anti-rattle device such as # MPG908.
If the problem is the exhaust then there are some things you can do to correct the issue. I have included a link to a how-to article that will help you.
