Flat Towing Components Needed For A 2023 Ford F-150 And 2017 GMC Acadia
Question:
I have two vehicles to set up for towing, a 2023 F150 and a 2017 GMC Acadia limited. I really like the simplicity of e86YR and the eTrailer 10.5K tow bar for the F150 but there is not an eTrailer baseplate for the Acadia. Which baseplate for the Acadia would be compatible or is there an adapter I would need?

Expert Reply:
Our etrailer baseplates are made by Demco so you'd just need the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM99YV for the 2017 GMC Acadia. This would be compatible with the etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e94ZR so that you could use it with both the F-150 and Acadia.
If you haven't picked out the rest of your flat towing components then I have a few recommendations for you:
Tow Bar Wiring: For the F-150 you'll need smart diodes and will need to pick the correct ones depending on if you have LED # RM38FR or incandescent # RM26FR tail lights.
For the Acadia you can use standard diodes # RM-152 and pick up a second socket # RM-910030-7 and just transfer the 7-way cable back and forth between the vehicles to save a bit of money.
Braking System: Since you'll be using two vehicles going with a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR will allow you to transfer the braking system back and forth. You'll just need to install a 12v outlet # RM-9332 in both vehicles in order to power the system while the vehicle is off.
I recommend also installing charge lines # RM-156-25 in both vehicles to keep the vehicle battery charged up while you tow.
