Adapter Needed To Connect A Trailer With A 7-Pin Cable To A 1994 Ford F-250 With A 6-Pin Socket
Question:
I have a 1994 Ford F-250 that has this round 6 pin installed in the bed. The trailer brake box is installed in the cab. I am going to tow a 2018 tandem axle camper with brakes. Will this adapter work or will I have to modify it? Otherwise, do you have a 7 way that I can wire into the existing wires that currently go to the 6 round without further modification? Hope that makes sense.

Hey Skylar,
The Buyers Products 6-Way Round to 7-Way Blade RV Adapter # 337TC1067P should be exactly what you need to connect a trailer with a 7-way to your F-250's 6-pin socket. With a 6-pin connector you just won't have a reverse light pin so the reverse lights on the trailer will not function and neither will any back up cameras tied into the reverse light circuit on the camper. This adapter will still have a pin for your brake controller so you'll be able to activate the brakes on the trailer. If you haven't used the 6-pin connector in a bit then I do recommend testing the pins to ensure the socket is properly functioning.
