How Much Should 7/16" Lug Nuts Be Torqued To?
Question:
I have an older trailer and just put the 12” radials with steel wheels on my trailer. My trailer has 7/16 lug bolts as opposed to lug nuts- any idea of a recommended torque range. I’ve got them at 85 now.

70 - 80 ft/lbs is what is recommended for 7/16 in lug bolts. Since you have them at 85 ft/lbs already I would loosen them all and retorque them in a star pattern. You will want to check them in 100 miles and see if any of them have loosened up. Some of them probably will so only tighten those back to 80 lbs and then do the same the next time you take the wheels off.
So long as you didn't damage your threads the steel wheel on the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire item # AM31202 should be fine. I'd be more concerned if you had aluminum wheels.
