How to Get 2024 Silverado 3500 OEM Brake Controller to Work with Hydrastar Actuator
Question:
l have a 2024 3500 chevy silverado dually. My problem is that there seems to be an issue with the newer trucks with trailers that have hyd. brakes. When l hook up to a trailer with drum brakes the system for the brakes work fine. But when l hook up to my hyd. brake trailer there is a problem no brakes. How do l correct the problem? It's a Diamond C trailer with 12,000 lb Lippert axles, along with DeeMaxx disc brakes. Thanks

Thanks for all of the details, Stu!
The Diamond C trailers use Hydrastar electric-over-hydraulic actuators which means the OEM brake controller on your 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 SHOULD work just fine with it. I say "should" because we've still seen times where newer GM trucks still require the Adapter Module # HBA-CAM even though for the most part it isn't needed.
If you're one of the lucky ones then you can either use the module or you can ditch the OEM controller and use an aftermarket one instead. For this I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR which plugs right into your OEM controller port with parts # 331-TPH-017 and # 3064-P, and then also gives you a clean looking installation since the only thing you need access to is the small control knob (see linked review video).
