Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way and Prodigy Brake Controller on a 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

I recently purchased a 4-pin trailer harness for my 2012 Subaru Outback. I will be pulling at #1300-1500 trailer 13foot Scamp camper. I am having a new axle single axle, two tires installed on the trailer with electric brakes. Since the 2012 Outback requires electric brakes over #1000, I thought that this is wise. However, the 2012 Outback seems to have very little in regards to information of updating the trailer to 7-pin. What electric brake controller and wiring kit do you recommend? Can the electric controller plug into the dash electronics, or hard wire to the 7-pin connector?

Smart idea on putting electric brakes on your trailer. The brake controller we recommend the most is the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This controller is the most popular one we carry because of how well it works and how easy it is to install and setup.

To install this controller and convert your 4-way to a 7-way you are going to need to use a Brake Controller Installation kit part # ETBC7. This comes with everything needed to install and wire up the included 7-way and a brake controller like the part # 90885.

I attached an install video for both of these products on a similar Outback as yours plus installation instructions.
