Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch For A 2024 Ford F-350 With An Inclined Wraparound Drivew

Question:

24 Ford F350 lariat short bed. I am currently looking for a slider fifth wheel hitch and right now the Curt Q20 looks like it would solve my needs. My trailer has a GVWR of 15000 lbs. My question: I have a wrap around drive way at my house and it has a slight grade of a few feet going up. When I slide this hitch back and lock it in, will this hitch be able to with stand the trailer and its weight going up my driveway or do I need to find another hitch. I dont want to be backing up and this hitch lets go and my trailer smashes into my back window.

The Curt Q-Series fifth wheel hitches, like the Q-20 # C16530-16020 you were looking at, have been known to have compatibility issues with certain pin boxes that ends up wearing the head out too quickly. Depending on the severity of the grading you could be placing a lot of stress on the head which will eventually wear down the bushings and require complete replacement of the head unit. It's a great hitch but with it being known to wear quicker and this being your main concern I recommend choosing an alternative.

If you don't have a factory puck system then I recommend going with the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 along with the base rail kit # BWRVK2402 if you need base rails as well. B&W is a well-known name in the RV industry for their craftsmanship and ride quality.

If you do have a puck system then I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3370. This will come with feet designed to drop right into the pucks.
