Wiring Harness to Use Brake Light Circuit for Supplemental Brake Lights on 2018 Ford Taurus
Question:
Hi there, I watched a video from you guys on YouTube on how to put in a harness for a trailer on a 2018 Ford Taurus. My question is I am not looking to put in a trailer package but more so wanting to tap into the brake light circuitry. You guys wouldnt happen to know or to sell something that plugs into the factory harness where I can tap into the brake light circuitry to add some supplemental brake lights?

I'm not entirely sure what supplemental brake lights you want to add to your 2018 Ford Taurus but the only thing we have that would be plug and play would be a 4-way like the # C56093. This wiring harness plugs into the connections behind your taillights and also runs to the battery.
Realistically you could install this and then run the supplemental lights off of the green and yellow wires but that would also activate them when you use your turn signals. Adding in an additional converter # 118158 would let you isolate the brake signal.
I wouldn't tap directly into the brake light circuit without speaking to a dealer first. You wouldn't want to pull too much power and damage the electrical system. Using a wiring harness like the Curt with a powered converter will reduce the strain on the wiring so it won't be a problem.
If you're actually trying to add lights because you're flat towing your Taurus then it would be best to use something like the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK. This would add external lights and plug into your motorhome. You could also use the vehicle lights if you added your standard tow bar wiring like # RM-15267
