Differences Between # 23-458 and #23-106-00 12 by 2 Inch Brake Assemblies
Question:
Other than price what is the difference between #23-458 and #23-106-00

Expert Reply:
Other than both brake assemblies being a 12x2 inch for a 6K axle, there are several differences between the two brake assemblies.
Brake assemblies are either right or left side of the trailer specific. The # 23-458 is for the left side of a trailer while # 23-106-09 is for the right hand. The # 23-458 is a Nev-R-Adjust assembly that will self adjust each time the trailer is backed. The # 23-106-09 requires the brakes be manually adjusted.
The # 23-106-09 is compatible with either the AL/KO 4 bolt mounting flange, or the standard 5 bolt. The # 23-458 is only compatible with the 5 bolt.
If you don't have an AL/KO axle, and don't need compatibility with a 4 bolt brake mounting flange, there's no reason not to go with the # 23-458 and # 23-459 because of its lower price and the fact that it self adjusts.
If you have an AL/KO axle, you'd also need # 23-105-09 for the left hand side, along with the # 23-106-09.
