Brake Controller and Quick-Connect Harness Recommendation for 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe
Question:
I have a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe with factory 7-Way harness installed but no brake controller. Looking for a brake controller for use with a 2 axle smaller camper and a car trailer. Would like one that plugs in either directly or with one of your adapter harnesses, if possible, If not would you recommend one that mates to the Tahoe wiring, Please. The Tekonsha Code: 90885 and Code: 90195 seem to get good reviews, are they good candidates? Thanks for any help you can offer

The two Tekonsha trailer brake controllers you reference, their Prodigy P2 # 90885 and their Prodigy P3 # 90195, are highly popular, well-reviewed and reliable proportional-type brake controllers that can be used with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes systems. Both have the capacity to activate up to 8 separate brake assemblies in total (up to 4 axles). Either one is an excellent choice.
Unfortunately in 2007 GM stopped offering the plug-n-play under-dash connectors on their vehicles with the tow package, so with your application for either Tekonsha controller you will do a hard-wire install. The linked article covers this simple process in detail and includes photos and step-by-step instructions.
You will connect the 4 wires from the controller of your choice to the blunt cut wires bundled under the dash (please see linked photo). It may also be necessary to complete some wiring within the engine compartment, at the power distribution box, to activate the tow package wiring. This is also detailed in the article.
